Frequently asked questions.
Quick answers on installation, pool compatibility, hardware and warranty. Still have a question? Send us a message.
Will it scratch my pool liner?
No. The Turtle's contoured ABS shell is the contact surface — not the bare canopy foot. The shell spreads weight across the liner so the load on any one point stays well below the threshold that scratches or punctures vinyl.
Is it safe on plaster and gunite?
Yes. The shell is smooth enough to glide across plaster without exposing the gray concrete underneath. Same for gunite and fiberglass gelcoat.
What size canopy does it fit?
Any standard 10×10 pop-up canopy. The Turtle slot is sized to a typical canopy leg outer dimension. If your canopy has unusual square or oversized legs, measure first.
How do I install them?
Lay the collapsed canopy upside down. Slip a Turtle over each foot until the screw holes line up with the leg. Drive the three included stainless screws — snug, but don't over-tighten. Repeat on each leg. Five minutes total.
Do I need to remove them after every swim?
The Turtles bolt onto the canopy legs once and stay there for the season. At the end of each pool day, take the canopy down. If you want, pop the Turtles off the legs and store them in the included mesh storage bag — the bag is for the Turtles only, not the canopy.
Is the hardware pool-safe?
Yes. The screws and lock washers are stainless steel rated for repeated chlorine exposure.
How many Turtles come in a kit?
Four — one for each canopy leg. The kit also includes all the stainless screws, lock washers and a mesh storage bag.
Is the product patented?
Yes. U.S. Patent #D888865, held by Shaded Lagoon LLC.
Where does it ship from?
It ships from Amazon Prime so most addresses get it in one to two days.
Can I return it?
Yes. Amazon's standard return window applies.
Does it work in a kiddie or inflatable pool?
Probably overkill — the Turtle is designed for hardshell pools where the floor needs protection. A small inflatable pool typically doesn't have the same liner-puncture risk.
Should I leave the canopy up overnight?
We recommend taking the canopy down at the end of the day. Overnight winds, rain or storms can flip any pop-up canopy — even with Turtles attached. Five minutes to take down, five minutes to put back up.
Where can I buy a pop-up canopy to use with the Turtles?
We recommend an economical 8×8 or 10×10 pop-up canopy from Walmart or Academy Sports + Outdoors — those are the two retailers we've personally tested with. The canopy in our photos and video is from Walmart. Pick by shade: 10×10 covers more pool, 8×8 is lighter. Straight-leg designs give you more shade than slanted-leg models. The Turtles fit the smaller pop-up canopy feet — the kind you see in our close-up install photos.
How long will the Turtles last?
Built to last for years. The ABS shell, stainless screws and lock washers are all rated for repeated chlorine and UV exposure. Rinse them off at the end of the season and they'll come back next year, and the year after that.
